I never actually planned to write romance, let alone the kind that makes some readers clutch their pearls. Growing up in a small town where everyone knew everyone's business, I spent most of my time lost in books, usually hiding under my covers with a flashlight way past bedtime. My early writing attempts were honestly pretty terrible - mostly angsty poetry about unrequited crushes and dramatic short stories where someone always died in the rain. (What can I say? I was a melodramatic teen.)
