Look, I never planned to become the queen of billionaire romance. Growing up in Miami with Chinese immigrant parents, I was sneaking Harlequin novels when my mom thought I was reading homework. She'd catch me and just shake her head - apparently writing steamy romance wasn't the career path she had in mind when she encouraged me to practice English by writing stories.
But here we are. 37 books later, with Christian Harper living rent-free in millions of readers' heads, and the Twisted series somehow sitting next to Pride and Prejudice on bestseller lists. Life's weird like that.
I started writing when I was 15 - terrible stuff that thankfully lives only in my old computer files now. Posted my first story on Wattpad at 18 while studying international relations in college. Because nothing says "future diplomat" like writing about possessive CEOs and their complicated love lives, right?
After college, I actually worked in press relations at a geopolitical consulting firm. Spent time in Shanghai as an exchange student, worked in the corporate world, lived the responsible adult life my parents expected. The whole time, I kept writing romance as a hobby. Characters would show up in my head demanding their stories be told, and honestly, it was cheaper than therapy.
Then 2021 happened. Twisted Love exploded on BookTok, and suddenly everyone was talking about Alex Volkov and his ice-cold heart. Readers started making thirst traps for fictional billionaires. My DMs became a dangerous place. The books went viral in ways I never expected - we're talking over a billion views across social media platforms.
Here's what I actually write: contemporary romance with steam, angst, and enough emotional damage to keep therapists in business. My heroes are alpha males who'd be red flags in real life but somehow work on the page. Think Christian Harper - charming, deadly, smart enough to hide it, and obsessed with the woman living one floor below him. The kind of guy who breaks his own rules and calls it love.
My heroines aren't passive. Stella Alonso keeps her heart in a cage for good reasons. Vivian Lau agrees to marry her family's enemy to secure their place in high society, then discovers she actually wants her husband. These women have goals, jobs, and problems that exist outside their romantic relationships.
The books are steamy. I'm not writing for your grandmother's book club (unless she's cool with explicit content and morally gray heroes). But the heat serves the emotional story. Physical intimacy reflects where characters are psychologically - their walls, their trust, their growth.
I write billionaires because money creates interesting power dynamics. When someone can buy your entire life, how do you maintain agency? When success comes at the cost of emotional availability, how do you learn to love? Wealth doesn't fix psychological damage - sometimes it makes it worse.
The Twisted series proved readers want diverse characters in their romance. My "Anaverse" features characters from different backgrounds because the world I grew up in was diverse, and books should reflect that reality. Romance shouldn't be limited to one type of person or experience.
BookTok changed everything. Having 734K Instagram followers and 666K on TikTok means readers expect accessibility. They want behind-the-scenes content, character aesthetics, and author interaction. Social media became part of the job in ways I never anticipated.
Netflix optioned the Twisted novels, which feels surreal. Watching fictional characters I created in my apartment potentially become real people on screen? That's not something they teach you to expect in international relations classes.
My Kings of Sin series explores political intrigue alongside romance - finally putting that IR degree to use. These aren't just billionaire love stories; they're about power, family legacy, and what happens when personal desires conflict with professional obligations.
I write fast because characters show up with complete stories demanding to be told immediately. When Dante Russo and Vivian Lau's arranged marriage plotline appeared in my head, it came with full emotional arcs, family backstories, and enough sexual tension to power a small city. The stories feel urgent.
The 3.9 average rating across 37 books reflects reality - not every book hits perfectly for every reader. Some love the intensity; others find it overwhelming. I write for readers who want emotional devastation alongside their happy endings. If you prefer gentle romance, my books might feel like too much.
My writing process involves extensive character development before plotting. I need to understand why someone like Christian Harper became who he is, what Stella's social media fame costs her psychologically, how family trauma shapes romantic choices. The external plot serves the internal character journey.
Living in different cities and traveling internationally informs my settings and character backgrounds. The emotional stakes feel universal, but cultural details matter. Character depth comes from understanding how different backgrounds shape perspectives on love, family, and success.
I'm currently working on expanding beyond contemporary romance while maintaining the emotional intensity readers expect. Sports romance with "The Striker" proved I can write different settings while keeping the psychological complexity that defines my style.
The honest truth? I write romance because I believe in love stories, even complicated ones. Especially complicated ones. Real relationships require work, compromise, and growth. My characters earn their happy endings through genuine psychological development, not magical love cures.
If you're new to my books, start with whatever premise appeals to you. The Twisted series for dark academia vibes, Kings of Sin for political intrigue, or standalone novels for complete stories without series commitment. Just know you're signing up for emotional intensity, steam, and heroes who'll probably ruin you for real men.
Welcome to the Anaverse. Don't say I didn't warn you about the book boyfriends.
