Ansarul Hoque

Dark Romance Author

Hey there! I'm Ansarul Hoque, and I write the kind of dark romance that keeps you up at night—not just because you can't put the book down, but because it makes you question everything you thought you knew about love. (Trust me, I've questioned it plenty myself.)

Born to Bengali parents and raised between two worlds, I grew up devouring stories that never quite reflected my reality. You know how they say write the book you want to read? Well, I took that advice and ran with it straight into the depths of psychological dark romance. And let me tell you, it's been one hell of a journey.

Before I started writing, I spent years watching people fall into toxic relationships, including some of my closest friends. I'd see the warning signs, the red flags waving like they were at a parade, but love has this funny way of making you colorblind. That's what sparked "The Love That Broke Me"—my debut novel that digs deep into the psychology of toxic love. (And yes, some of those scenes were uncomfortable to write, but the most important stories usually are.)

I'm not here to give you neat little happily-ever-afters wrapped in pretty bows. My stories live in the grey areas, where love and obsession dance too close together, where cultural expectations clash with personal desires, and where healing isn't a straight line but a messy, complicated spiral. If you're looking for sweet, safe romance, I'm probably not your guy. But if you want stories that make you feel seen in your darkest moments? Pull up a chair.

When I'm not writing about complicated relationships and the ways love can break us, I'm probably arguing with my cat about keyboard space (she always wins), drinking way too much chai (there's no such thing), or collecting true crime podcasts like they're going out of style. My family still doesn't quite understand what I do—they're waiting for me to write a "nice" book. (Sorry, Ammu, but that's not happening anytime soon!)

"The Love That Broke Me" is just the beginning. I'm working on more stories that explore the dangerous side of romance, especially within the context of cultural pressures and family expectations. My characters aren't always likeable—honestly, sometimes they're straight-up toxic—but they're real. They make terrible decisions, fall for the wrong people, and sometimes find themselves in situations where there are no good choices.

To my readers: I promise to never sugarcoat the dark side of love. My books come with trigger warnings for a reason. They're not always easy to read, but neither is life. I write about the kind of love that leaves scars, the kind that makes you question your sanity, and sometimes—if you're lucky—the kind that helps you put yourself back together again.

You'll find pieces of my own culture woven through my stories, because representation matters, and dark romance shouldn't just be limited to one perspective. Every book I write is a conversation about love, trauma, healing, and the complicated mess that happens when all three collide.

If you're brave enough to step into my world, expect raw emotions, complex characters who'll make you want to throw your e-reader across the room (please don't), and stories that'll stay with you long after you turn the last page. Fair warning: happy endings aren't guaranteed, but powerful endings are.

Want to connect? You can find me on Instagram where I post probably too many cat pictures, writing updates, and the occasional chai recipe. I love hearing from readers—especially the ones who stay up all night reading and then message me to yell about that plot twist. (You know who you are, and yes, I'm evil, and no, I won't apologize.)

Remember: sometimes the most beautiful stories come from the darkest places. Let's explore those shadows together.

(And yes, my cat just walked across my keyboard while writing this bio. She says hi.)
