Briar Boleyn

Hi there! I'm Briar Boleyn, and I write dark fantasy romance that blurs the lines between villain and hero. (Spoiler alert: in my books, they're usually the same person.) If you're looking for sweet, gentle fairy tales... you might want to keep scrolling. My stories tend to leave a few emotional scars—but I promise the healing is worth it.

I grew up devouring anything with magic, monsters, and morally grey characters. While other kids had normal childhood heroes, I was fascinated by characters like Morgan Le Fay and the villains who were more than they seemed. There's something deliciously compelling about characters who walk that razor's edge between light and dark, you know? (And yes, that definitely shaped my writing style!)

After years of working in corporate marketing (soul-crushing, do not recommend), I finally decided to listen to the stories that had been rattling around in my head since forever. My debut novel "Empress of Fae" poured out of me like I'd opened some kind of creative floodgate. Morgan's story—her journey from lost heir to fierce queen—was the book of my heart. I never expected it to resonate with so many readers, but here we are!

When I'm writing, I love exploring the darker sides of fae mythology. None of that sparkly fairy nonsense here! My fae are dangerous, ancient beings who definitely don't play nice with humans. Think blood oaths, deadly court politics, and romance that burns hot enough to scorch. My characters usually start as enemies (sometimes with very good reason), and watching them navigate from "I want to kill you" to "I can't live without you" is my absolute favorite thing to write.

"Court of Claws" continues Morgan's story as she faces her greatest challenge yet—being bound to a man who represents everything she's fighting against. (Did I mention I love putting my characters through emotional hell? Because I do.) The enemies-to-lovers tension in this one nearly killed me to write, but the payoff? *chef's kiss*

When I'm not torturing my characters, you can usually find me wandering through old bookstores, drinking way too much tea (Earl Grey, hot), or hanging out with my rescue cat Morgana (yes, I'm that person). I live in a creaky old Victorian house that's probably haunted, which feels perfectly on-brand for someone who writes about dark fae courts.

I believe the best stories are the ones that make you feel everything—the rage, the heartbreak, the triumph, and yes, even the darkness. My books aren't always comfortable reads, but I promise to always give you that emotional payoff in the end. (Though the path there might be paved with broken hearts and betrayal. Sorry not sorry!)
