Hey there, dark hearts! I'm Brynne Weaver, and I write the kind of romance that makes your therapist raise an eyebrow. You know, the books where the love interests are more likely to have a body count than a LinkedIn profile? Yeah, those ones.

I never meant to become the queen of murderous meet-cutes, but here we are. (Funny how life works out, isn't it?) Back when I was working as a true crime journalist in Chicago, I spent my days interviewing detectives and my nights binge-watching romantic comedies to cleanse my soul. One day, it hit me - why not combine the two? Because let's be honest, nothing says "happily ever after" quite like two killers falling in love while trying not to kill each other.

My Butcher & Blackbird series started as a crazy idea I couldn't shake. I thought maybe five people would read it (hi, Mom!), but turns out there are a lot of us who love our romance with a side of chaos and questionable life choices. When it hit the New York Times bestseller list, I nearly choked on my coffee. Now it's been translated into 12 languages, and I'm still pinching myself.

I write for readers who like their romance dark but not depressing, twisted but not tragic. My characters are usually terrible people who are excellent at their jobs (their jobs just happen to be murder). They're the kind of couples who flirt while hiding bodies and consider "not killing each other" as relationship goals. If you're looking for sweet, wholesome romance... honey, you're in the wrong place.

My latest series kicked off with Scythe & Sparrow, featuring a doctor running from his past and a part-time assassin who really needs to work on her work-life balance. Then there's Leather & Lark, where an ex-hitman meets his match in a chaos agent who refuses to die properly. (Don't you hate it when that happens?)

When I'm not writing about lovable murderers, I'm probably walking my rescue pit bull (named Murder, because of course), baking unnecessarily complicated desserts, or explaining to my neighbors that all the suspicious Google searches are "just research." I live in a cozy cottage in the Pacific Northwest with enough books to be concerning and enough coffee to be dangerous.

Fair warning: my books will make you laugh at inappropriate moments, root for people you probably shouldn't, and possibly question your own moral compass. But I promise you'll have fun doing it. They're like if Dexter met You've Got Mail and decided to have a rom-com baby.

For my fellow writers wondering about my process - I plot my books like my characters plot their crimes: meticulously, with lots of coffee, and usually while wearing pajamas. Every story starts with two impossible people who absolutely should not fall in love... and then I make them fall in love anyway. Because that's the real chaos, isn't it?

To my readers (my beautiful, wonderfully twisted readers), thank you for embracing these dark and quirky stories. Thanks for the messages about staying up way too late reading, for the fan art of murder scenes (which I probably shouldn't love as much as I do), and for getting all my obscure true crime references.
