Hey there! I'm Cambria Hebert, and I write the kind of dark fairy tales that would make the Brothers Grimm blush. (And probably high-five me, let's be honest.)

I've always been drawn to the shadows lurking beneath seemingly innocent stories. You know those moments when you're reading a classic fairy tale and think "but what if..." Yeah, that's where I live. That's where the magic happens.

Writing wasn't my first career choice - life has a funny way of leading you down unexpected paths. But stories? They've always been my constant companions. I started out scribbling in notebooks during high school, mostly angsty poetry and half-finished stories that will never see the light of day. (Trust me, we're all better off that way!)

When I finally embraced my calling as a writer, I knew I wanted to create something different. Something that would grab readers by the throat and refuse to let go. My take on Little Red Riding Hood in "Red" isn't your grandmother's bedtime story - unless your grandmother has a seriously twisted side. I took everything you think you know about that crimson-cloaked innocent and turned it inside out.

Here's the thing about my stories: they're dark. Really dark. I don't write safe, comfortable reads where you know everything will work out perfectly. My characters are damaged, dangerous, and sometimes downright villainous. But I believe that's where the most interesting stories live - in the space between light and shadow, between right and wrong, between love and obsession.

When I'm not torturing my characters (and by extension, my readers), I'm probably binge-watching true crime documentaries, hunting for the perfect cup of coffee, or plotting my next twisted tale. My poor family has learned to recognize my "I just had an idea" face and knows to expect minimal conversation until I've gotten it down on paper.

I love connecting with readers who aren't afraid to walk on the darker side of romance. The ones who understand that sometimes the most beautiful love stories come wrapped in thorns. My readers are my tribe, and I'm constantly amazed by how many kindred spirits are out there, craving these darker tales.

Fair warning: if you pick up one of my books, expect to stay up way too late, possibly throw your e-reader across the room at least once (please don't actually do this), and definitely fall in love with characters you probably shouldn't. My stories aren't for everyone - and I'm totally okay with that. They're for the readers who want their fairy tales with sharp teeth and sharper plot twists.

In "Red," I took everything we think we know about Little Red Riding Hood and twisted it into something new and dangerous. It's a story about belonging, about the monsters we run from and the ones we run toward. About how sometimes the scariest wolves aren't the ones hiding in the forest - they're the ones hiding in plain sight.

What can you expect from my books? Raw emotions. Complex characters who blur the lines between hero and villain. Steam that'll fog up your windows. And endings that might not be traditionally "happy" but are always exactly what the story demands.

I write for the readers who've always wondered what's hiding in the shadows of those childhood stories. For those who know that true love isn't always pretty or perfect - sometimes it's messy, complicated, and comes with sharp edges.
