Hey there, dark souls! I'm D.C. Odesza, and I write the kind of romance that makes your mother nervous and your book club clutch their pearls. (But let's be honest – those are usually the best kind of stories, right?)

Growing up in Germany, I always had a flair for the dramatic and a fascination with the darker side of love stories. You know those fairy tales the Brothers Grimm wrote before Disney got their hands on them? Those were my bedtime stories. And maybe that's why I can't write a romance without adding a generous helping of shadows and secrets.

I started writing seriously after spending years devouring every dark romance I could get my hands on. One day, I looked at my towering TBR pile and thought, "These are amazing, but I have my own twisted tales screaming to get out." So here we are. (My therapist says writing dark romance is cheaper than therapy, and who am I to argue?)

My debut novel, "Golden Blood – A Deal with Darkness" (2025), is my first step into the publishing world, but trust me – I've got plenty more darkness waiting in the wings. It's the story of Meliya, a woman who thought she'd finally escaped her traumatic past, only to find herself tangled in a web that's equally dangerous and irresistible. Because don't we all love a story where survival and desire dance on a knife's edge?

When it comes to my writing style, I believe in pushing boundaries while respecting my readers' trust. You'll find morally gray characters (okay, sometimes they're straight-up obsidian), intense emotional connections, and plots that'll keep you up way past your bedtime. I write about the kind of love that burns – sometimes it heals, sometimes it scars, but it always leaves a mark.

What can you expect from my books? Raw emotions, complex characters who definitely need therapy (but are too busy falling in catastrophically beautiful love to get it), and endings that might not be traditionally happy but are always satisfying. I don't do cookie-cutter romance. Each story is its own dark adventure, and I promise to take you on one hell of a ride.

When I'm not writing, you'll find me wandering through old German castles (perfect inspiration for brooding heroes), drinking way too much coffee (it's basically writer fuel), and plotting new ways to torment – I mean, challenge – my characters. I also spend an embarrassing amount of time talking to my cat about plot twists. (She's a harsh critic, let me tell you.)

I believe the best stories are the ones that make us question everything we think we know about love, morality, and ourselves. If you're looking for safe, sweet romance, I'm probably not your girl. But if you want stories that'll haunt you long after you turn the last page, pull up a chair. We're going to get along just fine.

Fair warning: my books come with trigger warnings for a reason. I don't shy away from difficult themes or complicated relationships. But I promise to always handle sensitive topics with care and purpose – never just for shock value.
