Eleanor Vance

Dark Romance Author

Hey there! I'm Eleanor Vance, and I write dark romance that blurs the lines between beauty and obsession. (Yes, my name really is Eleanor Vance—and no, I'm not haunting Hill House, though I do love a good ghost story!)

I grew up surrounded by art, spending countless hours in museums where my mother worked as a curator. Those hushed galleries became my playground, and I'd make up stories about the people in the paintings, imagining their secrets, their passions, their darkest desires. Little did I know those childhood daydreams would eventually become the foundation of my writing career.

Before I started writing romance, I actually worked as an art historian in Paris (cliché, I know, but sometimes the most beautiful clichés are true). There's something intoxicating about being alone in a gallery after hours, when the lights are dim and the paintings seem to whisper their stories. That's where the idea for "Whispers in the Gallery" first came to me—a story about a woman who can literally taste the colors in paintings and the dangerous man who becomes obsessed with her unique gift.

I write romance that's steeped in art, history, and the kind of darkness that makes you question your own moral compass. My characters aren't your typical good guys and bad guys. They're complex, often morally ambiguous people who are shaped by their passions—whether those passions are for art, power, or each other. And yes, sometimes those passions lead them down some pretty twisted paths. (What can I say? The best stories happen in the shadows.)

In "Whispers in the Gallery," I got to combine my love of art with my fascination for the unusual. Sophie Laurent's synesthesia isn't just a quirky character trait—it's a window into how differently we all perceive the world, and how those differences can make us both vulnerable and powerful. When she meets the mysterious art collector Victor Rousseau, their attraction becomes a dangerous dance of secrets, desire, and the thin line between appreciation and possession.

When I'm not writing, you can usually find me wandering through some obscure museum, drinking way too much coffee in tiny Parisian cafés, or organizing my absolutely ridiculous collection of art books. (My apartment looks like an art library exploded. Send help—or more bookshelves.)

I believe the best romance novels are like paintings—they should make you feel something deep in your soul, challenge your perceptions, and maybe make you a little uncomfortable in the best possible way. My stories aren't always easy to read. They deal with obsession, power dynamics, and the kind of love that's as destructive as it is beautiful. But I promise you this: they're always honest, always intense, and always rooted in the belief that even the darkest stories deserve their own kind of happy ending.

To my readers: thank you for joining me in these shadowy galleries of the heart. Your messages about staying up all night to finish my books, about seeing art differently after reading Sophie's story, about finding beauty in the darkness—they mean everything to me. I read every single one (usually while clutching my third cup of coffee and grinning like a fool).

What can you expect from my books? Morally grey characters who will haunt you long after you finish reading. Steam that'll fog up your glasses. Art history that's actually interesting (I promise!). And stories that explore the beautiful, terrible things people do in the name of love and obsession.

Currently, I'm working on my next novel (fueled by espresso and the ghost of Vincent van Gogh who I'm pretty sure haunts my writing desk). Without giving too much away, let's just say it involves a forger, a stolen masterpiece, and the kind of tension that makes my beta readers send me all-caps messages at 3 AM.

Welcome to my world of beautiful darkness. Make yourself comfortable—but not too comfortable. The best stories, like the best art, should always keep you a little bit on edge.
