Hey there! I'm Gena Showalter, and I've been living in fictional worlds since before I could properly tie my shoes. (Still struggle with those pesky laces sometimes, if I'm being honest.) Romance has always been my addiction—especially the kind where strong-willed characters clash, sparks fly, and happy endings come with a healthy dose of drama along the way.

I started my writing journey doing what any sensible person would do: working as a waitress while dreaming up stories between taking orders. Let me tell you, there's nothing quite like plotting steamy scenes while serving someone their eggs over easy! But those late nights of typing away after my shifts paid off when my first book hit shelves. Now I'm fortunate enough to spend my days creating worlds where love conquers all—even if it has to fight dirty to get there.

My writing style? Think sass meets class with a dash of badass. I love writing characters who are far from perfect (honestly, who isn't?), throwing them into impossible situations, and watching them fight their way out—usually while fighting their attraction to each other at the same time. There's something magical about taking two people who think they absolutely cannot stand each other and turning that tension into something explosive... in the best possible way.

In "Enemies to Lovers" (previously published as "The Harder You Fall"), I got to play with one of my favorite dynamics: a control freak hero meeting his match in a heroine who's basically a human wrecking ball. Because let's be real—nothing's more fun than watching a perfectly ordered world get turned upside down by love. The story practically wrote itself, though my characters definitely gave me some attitude along the way. (They tend to do that. A lot.)

Listen, here's what you should know about my books: they're not your grandmother's romance novels (unless your grandmother is super cool, in which case, can we meet her?). I write stories that dig deep into the messy parts of relationships, the complicated emotions, and yes, the steamy moments that make readers fan themselves. When I'm not writing, you'll probably find me binge-watching true crime documentaries (research, I swear!), attempting to train my perpetually mischievous dog, or dreaming up new ways to torture—I mean, challenge—my characters.
