Hi there! I'm Hana Tsukishiro, and I write dark paranormal romance that blends Japanese folklore with modern Gothic vibes. (Yes, that means lots of brooding immortals and complicated supernatural politics, usually with a dash of enemies-to-lovers tension because I'm predictable like that.)

Growing up between Tokyo and Seattle gave me a unique perspective on both cultures—and plenty of rainy days perfect for dreaming up moody supernatural stories. I spent my childhood devouring everything from traditional Japanese ghost stories to classic Gothic romance novels. There was something captivating about that intersection of beauty and darkness, love and danger. Though my parents hoped I'd pursue a "sensible" career in business or medicine, I knew I was meant to write these stories that had been brewing in my imagination since I was young.

After graduating with an English degree (sorry, Mom and Dad!), I worked as a translator while writing late into the night. Those years of juggling jobs taught me discipline, but more importantly, they showed me how stories can bridge cultures and bring people together. My translation work actually inspired many of the cultural dynamics I explore in my books—the miscommunications, the subtle nuances, the beautiful moments of understanding.

My debut novel "My Gothic Roommate" combines everything I love: grumpy vampire roommates, forced proximity, cultural clashes, and the kind of slow-burn tension that makes you want to throw your e-reader across the room (please don't actually do this). When I wrote Asahi, I wanted to create a vampire who embodied both traditional Japanese values and the weight of immortality. And Emiko? She's basically me if I were braver and had worse luck with housing situations. Their story is just the beginning of what I hope will be a larger series exploring supernatural creatures from both Eastern and Western folklore.

I believe romance should be both an escape and a mirror—showing us impossible things while reflecting very real emotions and struggles. My stories might feature vampires and yokai, but at their heart, they're about finding belonging, understanding across differences, and the courage to be vulnerable with someone who could literally eat you. (Okay, maybe that last part is more vampire-specific.)
