Hey there! I'm Heath Smith, and I write dark romance that'll make you question your own moral compass. (Don't worry, we're all a little twisted here.)

Writing wasn't my first career choice—far from it. I spent years working in corporate finance, wearing suits that felt like straitjackets and attending meetings that slowly drained my soul. But at night? That's when the real me came alive. I'd sit at my laptop, pouring out stories about broken people finding love in the darkest places. Because sometimes the most beautiful connections bloom in shadows.

My debut novel "Sinful Deception" sprang from those late-night writing sessions, fueled by too much coffee and the kind of thoughts that make therapists raise their eyebrows. It's the story I needed to tell, about walls we build to protect ourselves and the scars we hide behind carefully crafted masks. Sound familiar? Yeah, I thought so.

Here's the thing about my writing: I don't do sweet and fluffy. My characters are complex, often morally gray, and sometimes downright problematic. They're carrying baggage that would make an airport carousel break down. But that's what makes them real. We've all got our demons, right? I just let mine play on paper.

When I'm not writing about damaged souls finding their equally damaged other halves, you'll find me hiking in the mountains near my home in Colorado. (Nothing like thin air and steep cliffs to get the dark romance ideas flowing.) My rescue dog, Grimm—yes, named after the fairy tales, because I'm that kind of nerd—keeps me company while I write. He judges my plot twists with well-timed sighs.

I believe romance doesn't always need to be pretty. Sometimes it's raw, painful, and leaves scars. But those are often the love stories that stick with us the longest. My characters don't get easy happy endings—they earn them through blood, sweat, and usually a few questionable life choices.

Fair warning: my books aren't for everyone. If you're looking for sweet meet-cutes and gentle hand-holding, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you want stories that dig deep into the human psyche, that explore the fine line between love and obsession, and that aren't afraid to get their hands dirty? Pull up a chair. You're my kind of reader.

"Sinful Deception" is just the beginning. I've got more stories scratching at the inside of my skull, begging to be let out. Each one darker and more intense than the last. (My therapist is either very concerned or very intrigued—I can't quite tell.)

To my readers: thank you for being willing to walk on the dark side with me. Your messages about staying up until 3 AM to finish "just one more chapter" make my day. Even the ones threatening to throw your Kindle across the room because of my cliffhangers. (Sorry not sorry about those, by the way.)
