Invi Wright

Dark Romance Author

Hey there, dark souls! I'm Invi Wright, and I write the kind of fantasy romance that probably shouldn't be read in polite company. You know, the ones where the monsters aren't just metaphors, and the love stories are as dangerous as they are addictive.

(Fair warning: If you're looking for sweet fairy tales where everyone behaves, you might want to click away now. Still here? Perfect. You're my kind of reader.)

I've always been the weird kid who rooted for the monsters in stories. While everyone else was swooning over Prince Charming, I was sketching fanart of the dragons and wondering what their side of the story might be. That fascination never really went away – it just evolved into something darker and more complex as I got older. Now I get to create the kinds of stories I always wanted to read but could never find.

My journey into writing wasn't exactly conventional (is anything about me conventional? Ha!). I spent years working in corporate tech, drowning in spreadsheets and pretending to care about quarterly projections. But at night, I'd lose myself in writing about creatures that lurked in shadows and the humans brave (or foolish) enough to love them. Eventually, those midnight scribblings became impossible to ignore, and in 2022, I took the plunge and published my first novel, "Aine."

Speaking of "Aine" – it's my dark, twisted baby, and I couldn't be prouder of how it's making readers question their own moral compasses. When I started writing about a woman cast into monster-infested woods as punishment, I knew it wasn't going to be your typical beauty-and-the-beast retelling. I wanted to explore what happens when survival means embracing the darkness within yourself, when love blooms in the most hostile soil imaginable. (And yes, I may have gotten a few concerned messages from readers saying they shouldn't be attracted to my beast characters, but here we are!)

My writing style? Think Gothic romance meets psychological horror meets "monsters are definitely not metaphors here." I love playing in the shadows between consent and coercion, redemption and damnation, humanity and monstrosity. If you're looking for trigger warnings, you'll find them clearly marked in my books – I believe in letting readers make informed choices about their reading experience. But don't expect me to pull punches once you dive in.

When I'm not writing questionably ethical romance, you can find me wandering through forests at twilight (research, I swear), collecting oddities for my cabinet of curiosities, and trying to convince my cat she's not actually a monster from one of my books (the jury's still out on that one). I live in the Pacific Northwest, which probably explains my comfort with writing about dark, rainy settings and ancient woods hiding ancient secrets.

To my readers: thank you for being as wonderfully twisted as I am. Your messages about staying up until 3 AM to finish "Aine," your detailed theories about the monster lore, your passionate debates about morally grey choices – they make all the late-night writing sessions worth it. I'm building a community of readers who understand that sometimes the scariest stories are the ones that make us question what we're capable of loving.

What's next? Oh, I've got plans. Dark, delicious plans that I can't fully reveal yet, but let's just say the monsters in my next books make the beasts in "Aine" look almost tame. Almost. I'm diving deeper into folklore that most people have forgotten, mixing it with my own mythology, and creating love stories that will probably earn me a few more concerned emails from my mother.

If you decide to join me on this journey, expect: - Monsters who remain monsters (no convenient transformations into pretty boys here) - Heroines who might start innocent but definitely don't stay that way - Love stories that are beautiful because of their darkness, not in spite of it - World-building that will make you question every shadow in your own backyard - Spice that comes with teeth (literally, sometimes)

So, ready to wander into my woods? Just remember – unlike my characters, you can always close the book if things get too intense. But I'm betting you won't want to.

Welcome to the dark side. We have cookies (potentially poisoned, but delicious nonetheless).
