Hi! I'm J.R. Morgan, and I write dark romance that explores those blurry lines between love and obsession. You know that delicious shiver you get when you realize the story's headed somewhere both thrilling and dangerous? That's my sweet spot.

I never actually meant to write romance, let alone the darker variety. (Funny how life has other plans, right?) I spent years working various office jobs, people-watching and collecting stories in my head about the secrets everyone carries. There was always something magnetic about those quiet, intense types who seemed to be hiding depths beneath their carefully maintained facades. The kind of person who might be capable of anything – whether tender devotion or something much more sinister.

That fascination eventually birthed Matt Morrow, the protagonist of my debut novel "A Muse Is Born." He's the guy next door who becomes utterly consumed by his new neighbor, taking that age-old trope and twisting it into something far more psychologically complex. (And yes, I may have had a slightly obsessive neighbor once upon a time who sparked the initial idea. No, I won't tell you which apartment complex.)

When I write, I love digging into the psychology behind obsessive love – those moments when normal attraction tips over into something more dangerous but equally compelling. My characters aren't your typical romance leads. They're complicated, often morally grey, and sometimes make choices that'll have you throwing your e-reader across the room. But I promise to always make the emotional payoff worth it.

"A Muse Is Born" holds a special place in my heart as my first published work. It's where I really found my voice as an author, exploring themes of artistic inspiration, possessive love, and the price of obsession. The response from readers has been small but mighty (thank you to my brave early adopters!), and it's encouraged me to keep pushing boundaries in my writing.

When I'm not writing, you'll find me wandering around small Southern towns, eavesdropping on conversations in coffee shops (sorry not sorry), and collecting vintage typewriters that I swear I'll restore someday. I'm also slightly obsessed with true crime podcasts, which probably explains a lot about my writing style. My cat, Edgar (yes, named after Poe), frequently judges my life choices from his perch on my desk.

I believe the best stories are the ones that make us uncomfortable in the best possible way – the ones that have us questioning our own boundaries and wondering what we might do in similar circumstances. That's what I aim for in my work: those delicious grey areas where right and wrong aren't so clear-cut, and where love can be both salvation and destruction.

To my readers (both existing and future): expect stories that'll keep you up at night, characters who'll haunt you long after you finish the last page, and romance that comes with a healthy side of psychological tension. I write for those who like their love stories with sharp edges and darker undertones, who understand that sometimes the most powerful connections aren't the healthiest ones.

I'm currently working on my next novel (which may or may not involve a troubled artist with an unhealthy fixation on his mysterious muse – I'll never tell), and I can't wait to share more stories with you.
