Hey there, dark souls. I'm Jack Lassidier, and I write the kind of romance that makes people squirm, question their moral compass, and come back begging for more. (Yeah, I'm that guy.)

I never set out to write romance, let alone the kind that makes some readers clutch their pearls. My background is actually in investigative journalism - I spent fifteen years digging into corruption cases and institutional cover-ups. The darker side of human nature? I've seen it up close and personal. Those experiences left their mark, and they definitely color my writing now.

You might be wondering how a hardened journalist ended up writing dark romance. Well, after one particularly brutal case involving systemic abuse of power (the kind that never made it to print, if you catch my drift), I needed an outlet. Fiction became my therapy. I started writing what would eventually become "Crimson Webs" as a way to process everything I'd seen. The romance element? That snuck in like a thief in the night, and before I knew it, I was creating a love story that was as twisted as it was intense.

Speaking of "Crimson Webs" - if you're looking for fluffy romance with cookie-cutter characters and neat, tidy endings, you should probably keep walking. My debut novel tackles the mess of real life head-on. It's about what happens when good people make terrible choices, when justice isn't black and white, and when love blooms in the most toxic soil imaginable. (And yes, I know that metaphor is dark as hell. Welcome to my world.)

My characters aren't heroes or villains - they're humans caught in impossible situations, making choices that will haunt them forever. The romance in my books isn't about saving each other; it's about two damaged people recognizing their own darkness in someone else and choosing to face it together. Sometimes love isn't pretty. Sometimes it's got blood on its hands.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually still investigating something (old habits die hard). I live in Seattle with my rescue pit bull, Magnus, who's convinced he's a lap dog despite weighing 85 pounds. My office is a converted garage that looks like a conspiracy theorist's dream - walls covered in notes, red string, and newspaper clippings. (My sister says it's creepy. I say it's research.)

Fair warning: my books deal with heavy themes. Institutional corruption, systemic prejudice, moral ambiguity - these aren't just plot devices for me. They're realities I've witnessed firsthand. I write about them because they matter, because they shape us, because they're the shadows we all try to outrun.

To my readers: I promise to never sugarcoat the darkness. But I also promise to always leave you with a spark of hope. Not the Disney kind of hope - more like the kind you find when you're at rock bottom and realize you're not alone there. That's where the real love stories happen, in my experience.
