Hi there! I'm Jessica Griffin, and I write the kind of dark romance that keeps you up at night, questioning everything you thought you knew about love, trauma, and healing. (And yes, I'm fully aware that makes me sound a little unhinged – my family has mentioned it once or twice.)

I never set out to be a writer, actually. For years, I worked in trauma counseling, sitting across from people during their darkest moments and watching them piece themselves back together. It changed me. Made me realize that sometimes the most beautiful stories come from the most broken places. That's probably why I can't write simple, clean-cut romance – life rarely is.

My debut novel, "Pillars of the Firmament," poured out of me during a particularly rough patch in my own life. (Picture me, surrounded by empty coffee cups and chocolate wrappers, typing at 3 AM because these characters wouldn't shut up.) It's the story of Celeste, a woman who wakes up in a hospital with months of her life missing, only to discover that sometimes the things we forget are the things protecting us from ourselves. Dark? Yes. Intense? Absolutely. But I promise there's light in there too – even if you have to squint to see it sometimes.

I write about the messy parts of healing, the uncomfortable truths we'd rather ignore, and the kind of love that doesn't fix everything but makes it bearable. My characters aren't perfect – they're real people dealing with real trauma, making mistakes, and sometimes making questionable choices. (Don't we all, though?)

When I'm not writing, you'll find me either buried in research about psychological trauma (fascinating stuff, I swear), walking my extremely opinionated rescue dog, Charlie, or binge-watching true crime documentaries. My husband has learned to live with my weird Google search history, though he does occasionally give me concerned looks over breakfast.

What can you expect from my books? Raw emotion. Complex characters who don't always do the right thing. Relationships that develop in the shadows of trauma and healing. And yes, some scenes that might make you want to throw your e-reader across the room (please don't – those things are expensive).

I believe in writing stories that don't shy away from the darkness but also don't forget about hope. Because that's what I learned in my years of counseling – even in the darkest moments, hope finds a way to sneak in through the cracks. My characters might go through hell (okay, they definitely go through hell), but I promise to guide them – and you – toward something meaningful on the other side.
