Hi there! I'm Jessica Scott, and I write emotional, gritty romance that digs deep into the messy, complicated parts of life and love. (Especially the parts that aren't always pretty and perfect.)

As a combat veteran and former Army officer, I know firsthand that real relationships don't follow a neat script. My military background shapes everything I write – the raw honesty, the complex characters, and those moments of connection that hit you right in the heart. During my deployments, books were my escape and my anchor. Now I get to create those same kinds of stories for others.

I'll be straight with you: my romances aren't always easy reads. They deal with trauma, healing, and finding love in the darkest places. But I promise you'll always get deep emotional payoff and hard-won happy endings. My characters are scarred (inside and out), stubborn as hell, and absolutely terrible at handling their feelings like normal humans. In other words, they're real.

You might know me from my contribution to the 1001 Dark Nights series, where I explored themes of redemption and second chances against a military backdrop. Writing that story let me push boundaries and dig into the shadows where the most powerful love stories often hide. (Plus, getting to be part of such an amazing collection of authors? Total pinch-me moment.)

When I'm not writing, you can usually find me hanging out with my family, binge-reading everything I can get my hands on, or advocating for veteran causes. My experiences in the military taught me that everyone has a story worth telling – especially the ones that aren't pretty or polished. That's what drives my writing: showing that love can bloom in the most unexpected and challenging circumstances.

Fair warning: if you're looking for light, fluffy romance, I'm probably not your girl. My stories tackle heavy themes head-on – PTSD, trauma recovery, the toll of military service on relationships. But I weave hope through every dark moment. Because that's what I learned in the Army: even in the toughest situations, connection and love can pull us through.

I write the kind of books I needed when I was deployed – raw, honest stories that don't shy away from difficult truths but still believe in the power of love to heal and transform. My characters aren't perfect (far from it). They're stubborn, damaged, and sometimes their own worst enemies. But they fight for love with everything they've got.
