Hey there! I'm Karina Halle, and I've spent my life chasing stories that give me goosebumps. You know that delicious shiver you get when something's a little dangerous, a little forbidden, and completely irresistible? That's what I live for – and what I write.

Before I started writing romance novels, I was a music journalist and travel blogger (yeah, I basically lived the dream of getting paid to go to concerts and explore the world). Those experiences shaped me in ways I never expected. I learned that the best stories happen in those grey areas between light and dark, in the spaces where rules get broken and boundaries get pushed.

I'm a Canadian girl, born and raised on the wild and moody West Coast. Maybe that's why I'm drawn to writing about untamed places and untamed hearts. There's something about growing up surrounded by misty forests and stormy seas that gets into your blood and never quite leaves. (And yes, I do sometimes write wearing flannel. I am Canadian, after all.)

My latest book, "Ocean of Sin and Starlight," is probably the perfect example of what happens when you let my imagination run wild. I mean, who doesn't want to read about morally grey pirates and dangerous sirens falling in love while trying not to kill each other? It's dark fantasy romance with teeth – literally, in some cases. I wanted to write something that would make readers feel like they're standing on the deck of a ship during a storm: thrilled, terrified, and absolutely unable to look away.

Here's the thing about my books: they're not always comfortable. I write about the monsters and the broken ones, the characters who live in shadows and make terrible choices for all the right reasons. My heroes aren't always heroic in the traditional sense, and my villains... well, sometimes they're the ones you end up rooting for. (Don't worry, I won't tell anyone if you fall for the bad guy. It happens to the best of us.)

When I'm not writing, I'm probably hiking with my dogs, planning my next travel adventure, or binge-watching true crime documentaries for "research" (at least that's what I tell my husband). I believe in full-moon rituals, the power of a good playlist, and that sometimes the scariest monsters are the ones wearing human faces.

My writing process is pretty much chaos wrapped in coffee and deadline panic. I usually start with a character or a scene that won't leave me alone, and then I let that story possess me until it's done. Some days the words flow like wine at a book club meeting, and other days it's like trying to squeeze blood from a stone. But that's the magic of it, isn't it?

To my readers (both new and ride-or-die): expect the unexpected. I promise to take you on adventures that'll make your heart race and your kindle steam up. There will be darkness, but there will also be hope. There will be monsters, but they might just be the ones you fall in love with. And there will always, always be that moment where you have to decide if you're brave enough to keep reading. (Spoiler alert: you are.)

I write the kind of books that make you stay up way too late, the ones that leave you with a book hangover and possibly some questionable new crushes. My characters aren't perfect – they're messy and complicated and sometimes make terrible decisions. But isn't that what makes them real?

If you're looking for safe, sweet romance... well, I might not be your girl. But if you want stories that'll make you feel everything, that'll push boundaries and break rules and maybe leave you a little bit changed? Pull up a chair. Let's get dangerous together.
