Kathryn Ann Kingsley

Dark Romance Author

Hi there! I'm Kathryn Ann Kingsley, and I write dark fantasy romance that probably shouldn't be read in polite company. (But let's be honest—those are always the best kinds of books, aren't they?)

I've always been drawn to the darker side of storytelling. You know those fairy tales where the monster gets reformed and everything ends in sunshine and rainbows? Yeah, those aren't my stories. I prefer to explore what happens when the monster stays deliciously wicked—and the heroine discovers she might like him better that way. (What can I say? I have a type.)

My journey into writing started with an obsession with mythology and folklore that I probably should have outgrown but never did. I was that kid who always rooted for the villains, convinced they just needed better PR. Now I get to give them their own love stories, though I promise you won't find any redemption arcs here. My villains stay villains—they just happen to fall in love along the way.

If you've dipped into my Under series (starting with 'King of Flames'), you'll know I don't play nice with my characters. The world of Under is a place where magic runs wild and dark kings rule with iron fists. My latest books, 'Queen of Dreams' and 'Queen of All,' dive even deeper into this realm where nothing is quite what it seems and happy endings come with sharp edges.

When I'm not torturing my characters (lovingly, of course), I'm probably buried in research about ancient myths or watching documentaries about cursed artifacts. My husband has learned to stop questioning why my browser history looks like a gothic horror novel threw up all over it. (Though he does occasionally give me concerned looks when I get too excited about finding the perfect way to describe blood magic.)

My writing style? Think dark chocolate with chili peppers—sweet enough to keep you coming back, but with a kick that might burn. I love creating complex, morally gray characters who definitely shouldn't work together but somehow do. And yes, there will be spice. The kind that makes you fan yourself while pretending you're just really invested in the plot.

'To Charm a Dark Prince' holds a special place in my heart because it let me play with Arthurian legends in ways that would make Malory roll in his grave. Mordred finally gets his own story, and trust me, he's not the villain you remember from the legends. (Okay, he totally is, but now you get to fall in love with him anyway.)

What can you expect from my books? Magic that comes with a price. Romance that burns slow but hot. Heroes who aren't heroes at all. And heroines who don't need saving—they need someone who can keep up with them. There will be tension, there will be danger, and there will definitely be moments where you want to throw your e-reader across the room. (Please don't. I can't be held responsible for damaged devices.)

I believe the best love stories are the ones that make you question everything you thought you knew about good and evil. My characters live in those gorgeous gray areas where right and wrong blur together, and sometimes the most beautiful relationships bloom in the darkest places.

To my readers: thank you for joining me in these twisted tales. Your messages about staying up way too late reading "just one more chapter" make my day. (Though I accept no responsibility for your coffee consumption the next morning.) If you're new here, welcome to the dark side. We have cookies. They might be poisoned, but they're worth the risk.

Want to connect? You can find me on social media, where I regularly share snippets of upcoming works and probably too many pictures of my cat judging my writing choices. Fair warning: once you step into my worlds, you might not want to leave. But then again, why would you want to?

Remember: the best monsters are the ones you fall in love with despite knowing better. Or maybe because of it.

Welcome to my wonderfully wicked world.

(P.S. If you're wondering whether that creepy scene was inspired by a real legend—it probably was. Sleep tight!)
