Hey there, fellow book lovers! I'm Kyrie Fogus, and I write dark fantasy romance that probably shouldn't be read in polite company. (But let's be honest—those are always the best kinds of books, right?)

Growing up in the Midwest with my nose perpetually stuck in fantasy novels, I always knew I wanted to create worlds of my own. But it wasn't until I found myself working a soul-crushing corporate job that I finally put pen to paper. Or, well, fingers to keyboard. There's something about fluorescent lighting and endless spreadsheets that really makes a girl dream up alternate dimensions and dangerous immortal beings.

I'm that weird kid who always rooted for the monsters in movies. You know the type—while everyone else was cheering for the hero, I was wondering if the demon lord had a tragic backstory and maybe just needed a hug. (And possibly a steamy romance arc, but that came later.)

My debut novel "Riftborn" combines everything I love: ancient magic hidden in plain sight, forbidden tomes that definitely shouldn't be read aloud (but of course they will be), and the kind of romance that makes your mother worry about your reading choices. When Selene Carter stumbles across an ancient book in Chicago, she has no idea she's about to crack open a door between worlds that probably should've stayed firmly shut. But where's the fun in leaving doors unopened?

I write the kind of stories that blur the lines between right and wrong, where the monsters might be the heroes (or at least really hot anti-heroes), and where happy endings come with a price tag that'll make you question everything. My characters aren't always nice—okay, they're rarely nice—but they're always interesting. And isn't that better than nice anyway?

When I'm not writing about dangerous otherworldly beings and the humans who really should know better than to fall for them, I'm probably drinking way too much coffee, attempting to convince my cat she's not actually in charge (a losing battle), or hunting through used bookstores for weird occult books that might inspire my next story. Fair warning: if you see someone in the mythology section muttering about demon summoning rituals and romantic plot points, that's probably me.

My writing process is... chaotic, to put it mildly. I plot out my books using a system that involves color-coded sticky notes, string, and what my best friend calls "serial killer wall vibes." But hey, whatever works, right? Sometimes the best stories come from letting the chaos take the wheel.

What can you expect from my books? Dark romance that doesn't flinch, fantasy that feels real enough to touch, and characters who'll probably ruin you for normal relationships. There will be blood. There will be steam. There will definitely be moments where you throw the book across the room (please aim for soft surfaces).
