Hi there! I'm L C Frey, and I write dark romance that explores the twisted, complicated bonds between brothers who become enemies... and the women caught in their dangerous games. (Yes, I have a thing for family drama turned deadly. Don't judge me.)
Growing up in Germany, I was always drawn to the grittier side of storytelling - those raw, messy stories that make you question right and wrong. I started writing seriously after devouring every dark romance I could get my hands on and thinking "but what if it was even darker?" (Spoiler alert: It can always get darker.)
My debut novel "Dark as Knight" dives into a world where two brothers' hatred for each other ignites into an inferno when they both set their sights on the same woman. Kate finds herself trapped between Lukas and Marcus Knight - two men who share blood but would gladly spill each other's. It's a story about obsession, revenge, and how love can be the most dangerous weapon of all.
I write in both German and English, which lets me play with language in ways that add layers to the darkness. There's something about German that just hits different when you're writing threats and declarations of obsessive love, you know? My characters tend to be morally grey at best and straight-up villainous at worst. The brothers in my stories? They're not your typical heroes. They're possessive, ruthless, and willing to burn the world down to get what they want.
When I'm not writing scenes that make my beta readers say "what the actual hell, LC?", I'm probably reading other dark romance authors, planning future books (hint: more toxic brothers on the way!), or trying to convince my cat that my laptop keyboard is not, in fact, the most comfortable spot in the house.
My stories aren't for everyone, and I'm totally okay with that. If you're looking for sweet, gentle romance with clear-cut good guys... um, maybe try the next aisle? But if you live for those deliciously dark stories where love and hate blur together, where family ties become nooses, and where happily ever after comes with a body count? Pull up a chair. We're going to be great friends.
Fair warning: I don't believe in trigger warnings (life doesn't come with them, why should books?), and I don't write soft. My characters are damaged, dangerous, and sometimes downright depraved. They'll make choices that'll have you throwing your e-reader across the room - but I bet you'll pick it right back up to see what happens next.
The Knight brothers were just the beginning. I've got more toxic families, forbidden attractions, and dangerous games planned. Think brothers who'd rather destroy each other than share, sisters who blur the lines between love and revenge, and family empires built on blood and betrayal.
Want to join me in exploring the darker side of love and family? You can find me on Instagram and TikTok where I post way too many thirst traps of my book boyfriends and probably overshare about my writing process. (Yes, I write some scenes in Comic Sans. No, I won't apologize for it.)
Remember: In my books, family doesn't always mean forever, love isn't always kind, and sometimes the real villain is the one you're rooting for all along.
Welcome to the dark side. We have angst, enemies-to-lovers, and brothers who really need therapy instead of romance. But where's the fun in that?
