Hey there, dark romance lovers! I'm Laura Thalassa, and I write the kind of books that make your mom raise an eyebrow and your book club clutch their pearls. (But let's be honest, those are always the best books, right?)
I've been writing stories since I was old enough to hold a pencil, but my real journey into the world of publishing started when I was fresh out of college. Picture this: there I was, armed with an English degree and absolutely zero clue what to do with it. While my peers were sending out resumes, I was busy writing about fae kings and deadly sirens. Not exactly what my academic advisors had in mind, but hey - sometimes the best paths are the ones you stumble onto accidentally.
The paranormal and dark romance genres stole my heart long before I started writing them. There's something intoxicating about crafting characters who exist in that delicious gray area between good and evil. My heroes? They're usually the kind of guys your mother warned you about. (Sorry, Mom!) And my heroines? They're strong, complex women who aren't afraid to dance with the devil - sometimes literally.
The Bargainer series is probably what most readers know me for, and let me tell you, writing Callie and Des's story was like trying to bottle lightning. Dark, sexy, dangerous lightning. When I first introduced Des - the Bargainer himself - I knew I was creating someone special. A character who would make readers question everything they thought they knew about good and bad, right and wrong. The way that series took off still leaves me pinching myself sometimes.
My writing style? Think Gothic romance meets modern fantasy with a healthy dose of spice. I love weaving mythology and folklore into my stories, but with twists that'll keep you guessing. And yes, there will be steam. (If you're looking for clean romance, you might want to check out a different section of the bookstore!)
The thing about writing in this genre is that you have to be fearless. I'm not afraid to go dark - really dark - but I always make sure there's a thread of hope running through everything. Because what's the point of all that darkness if we can't find our way back to the light? (Even if that light happens to be filtered through some seriously sexy shadow magic.)
When I'm not writing about dangerous supernatural beings and the women who love them, I'm probably reading, drinking way too much coffee, or trying to convince my family that my characters' voices in my head are totally normal. (They're not buying it either.)
For new readers diving into my world: expect morally gray characters who will test your boundaries, plot twists that'll keep you up way past your bedtime, and romance that burns so hot it might singe your eyebrows. My books aren't for the faint of heart, but then again, neither are the best love stories.
The Bewitched series is my latest baby, and it's been amazing watching readers fall in love with Selene's story. It's set in the same world as The Bargainer series, but trust me - it's got its own brand of magic. And speaking of magic, wait until you see what I've got planned next... (No, I won't tell you what it is yet. Author's prerogative!)
I believe the best stories are the ones that haunt you long after you've turned the last page. The ones that make you question what you'd do if you found yourself in the same situation. Would you make a deal with the Bargainer? Would you trust a beautiful stranger with deadly powers? These are the questions I love exploring in my books.
To my readers: thank you for being brave enough to walk into these dark worlds with me. For trusting me to guide you through the shadows and bring you back out again. Your messages, fan art, and theories mean the world to me. (Even the ones where you threaten to throw your Kindle across the room - those are actually my favorite!)
So if you're ready for stories that blur the lines between fantasy and reality, good and evil, love and obsession... well, pull up a chair. We're going to have fun together.
Just remember: in my worlds, happy endings are earned, not given. But trust me - they're worth every deliciously dark moment along the way.
