Liana Valerian

Dark Romance Author

Hey there, dark souls! I'm Liana Valerian, and I write romance that dances in the shadows between heaven and hell. (Literally, in some cases.) If you're looking for safe, sweet stories where good triumphs and everyone lives happily ever after... well, I might not be your girl. But if you want to explore what happens when celestial beings lose their halos and demons find unexpected redemption? Pull up a chair.

I grew up devouring every paranormal romance I could get my hands on, but I always found myself drawn to the villains more than the heroes. There was something magnetic about those morally gray characters that made me want to dig deeper into their psyche. (Plus, let's be honest – the bad guys usually have better fashion sense.) When I started writing my own stories, I knew I wanted to create something different. Something that would challenge the traditional boundaries between good and evil.

My debut novel, "The River of Fire," came from a random 3 AM thought: "What if Hell had an overcrowding problem?" I mean, think about it – with the human population growing exponentially and sin being what it is, there had to be some serious logistics issues down there, right? That single question spawned an entire world of fallen angels, ambitious demons, and the complicated politics of the afterlife. I'm still kind of amazed that my sleep-deprived brain actually produced something coherent enough to become a book.

When it comes to my writing style, I like to think of it as "paradise lost meets modern snark." My characters might be dealing with eternal damnation, but they've still got Twitter accounts and streaming subscriptions. I believe that even supernatural beings would have to deal with mundane problems alongside their epic battles. (Yes, even demon lords have to pay bills. Hellfire doesn't fuel itself.)

I write the kind of romance that makes you question your own moral compass. My heroes – if you can call them that – aren't going to be reformed by the power of love. They're going to remain complicated, sometimes selfish, often dangerous individuals who just happen to have found their perfect match in equally complex partners. It's not about redemption; it's about acceptance and understanding that love doesn't always wear a white hat.

When I'm not writing about the politics of the underworld, you can usually find me in my home office, surrounded by way too many coffee mugs and an ever-growing collection of gargoyle figurines. (They're research materials, I swear!) I live in the Pacific Northwest with my rescue cat, Lucifer – yes, that's really his name, and yes, he absolutely lives up to it.

For new readers diving into my work, expect: - Morally ambiguous characters who definitely shouldn't be relationship role models - Supernatural politics with a healthy dose of dark humor - Spice levels that might make a succubus blush - Complex world-building that questions everything you thought you knew about heaven and hell - Characters who quote both Paradise Lost and Brooklyn Nine-Nine with equal enthusiasm

I'm currently working on expanding the world of "The River of Fire" into a larger series, because apparently, my brain won't let go of these characters. (They're very persistent for fictional beings.) I've got plans for at least three more books in this universe, each diving deeper into the complex hierarchy of heaven, hell, and all the gray areas in between.

You can find me on Instagram and TikTok where I post writing updates, behind-the-scenes peeks at my research rabbit holes, and occasional videos of Lucifer being his chaotic self. I love connecting with readers and hearing your theories about where the story might go next. (Some of you are frighteningly accurate with your predictions – are you sure you're not actually fallen angels yourselves?)

Fair warning: my books aren't for everyone, and that's okay. But if you've ever found yourself rooting for the villain, wondering about the bureaucratic structure of hell, or thinking that maybe forbidden fruit tastes the sweetest... well, you might just be my kind of reader.

Welcome to my world of celestial politics, infernal romance, and the complicated space between divine and damned. I promise it's going to be one hell of a ride.
