Lucy Fitzgerald

Dark Romance Author

Hey there, dark souls! I'm Lucy Fitzgerald, and I write the kind of fantasy romance that would make your grandmother clutch her pearls and your local librarian raise an eyebrow. (They'd probably still read it though, let's be honest.)

I never meant to write about demon kings and forbidden forests. Growing up in a tiny town in Vermont, I spent most of my time creating stories in my head while wandering through the woods behind our house. My mom always said I had one foot in another world – turns out she wasn't wrong! After getting my degree in Classical Literature (because apparently, I wanted to be really good at analyzing ancient smut), I worked as a bookstore manager for five years. You know what that means – I spent way too much time reading everything I could get my hands on when I should've been restocking shelves.

But here's the thing: I couldn't find exactly what I wanted to read. Sure, there were plenty of paranormal romances and dark fantasies, but I craved something... different. Something that blended the raw, primal nature of the fae realm with the kind of steam that makes you need to fan yourself while reading. (Pro tip: don't read my books in public unless you're really good at keeping a poker face.)

That's how "Solstice of the Damned" was born. I wrote it during the pandemic, mostly at 3 AM while hopped up on too much coffee and listening to Norse folk metal. The story of Kalina and Damon poured out of me like some kind of fever dream. I wanted to create a world where the line between monster and man isn't just blurred – it's completely irrelevant. Because let's face it, sometimes the scariest things are the ones we want most.

My writing style? Think dark chocolate with chili peppers – sweet enough to tempt you, but with a kick that'll leave you breathless. I love playing with consent, power dynamics, and the beautiful tragedy of falling for someone (or something) that probably wants to eat you. Literally. My demons aren't the kind you can exorcise with holy water – they're the kind that'll make you question everything you thought you knew about good and evil.

When I'm not writing spicy scenes that would make a succubus blush, you can find me hiking in the Green Mountains with my rescue dog, Luna (yes, I'm that basic witch with a black dog named Luna), or tending to my probably-too-large collection of poisonous plants. (Don't worry, I only use them for research... mostly.)

To my readers: expect the unexpected. I don't write typical happily-ever-afters – I write devastatingly beautiful endings that'll haunt you for days. My characters are broken, complex, and sometimes downright terrible, but I promise you'll love them anyway. There's always consent (explicit or magical, depending on the story), but everything else is fair game. If you're looking for soft, sweet romance, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you want to explore the darker side of desire, pull up a chair. We're going to have fun.

I'm currently working on my next novel (fueled by unhealthy amounts of Earl Grey tea and dark chocolate-covered almonds), which may or may not involve a vampire queen with a thing for human artists. But that's all I can say about that for now... 😉

Fair warning: my books contain themes of dubious morality, explicit scenes that'll make you need a cold shower, and the kind of plot twists that'll keep you up at night. But I promise it'll be worth it. After all, the best stories are the ones that leave a mark.

Want to join my coven of dark romance lovers? You can find me on Instagram posting aesthetic photos of my writing space (complete with obligatory crystals and candles), or in my Facebook reader group, "Lucy's Dark Court," where we discuss everything from demon king boyfriend material to which mythological creatures would make the best book boyfriends. (Spoiler alert: it's not centaurs.)

Remember: life's too short for boring books. Let's get weird together.

xoxo, Lucy 🖤

P.S. Yes, I do own way too many black dresses and combat boots. No, I won't apologize for it.
