M J Iorkighir

Dark Romance Author

Hey there! I'm M J Iorkighir, and I write the kind of fantasy romance that would make my childhood librarian raise her eyebrows and probably move my books to the "special collections" room. (You know, the one where they keep all the *interesting* stuff.)

Growing up in a house full of books, I always knew I'd write stories someday. What I didn't expect was that those stories would involve sexy hybrid vampires, surprisingly charming dragons, and thieves who are way too attractive for their own good. But here we are! And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way.

My journey into writing started with scribbling fanfiction in notebooks during math class (sorry, Mrs. Peterson!), but it wasn't until I discovered the beautiful chaos that happens when you mix fantasy, romance, and morally questionable characters that I really found my groove. There's something magical about taking traditional fantasy elements and turning them on their head – like making dragons more interested in relationship gossip than hoarding gold, or having vampires who are terrible at being broody and mysterious.

If you pick up one of my books, you can expect: • Rivals who are *terrible* at actually being rivals • Fantasy worlds where the magic is as messy as the relationships • Dragons who might steal your jewelry but will also give you solid dating advice • Characters who start out trying to steal each other's stuff and end up stealing each other's hearts instead • Banter that'll make you snort-laugh at inappropriate moments • Spice that'll make you fan yourself (and maybe check over your shoulder to make sure no one's reading over it)

My debut novel, "To Sway A Rival" (coming in 2025), introduces the long-standing feud between the Stonehearts and the Heathrows – two families who really need to just sit down and talk it out, but where's the fun in that? Instead, we follow our leads through a dragon-filled forest on a quest that's equal parts treasure hunt and "oh no, they're hot." (Spoiler alert: the dragons are totally betting on who kisses who first.)

When I'm not writing about vampires with commitment issues or dragons who moonlight as relationship counselors, I'm probably binge-reading fantasy romance novels, trying to convince my cat that my keyboard is not a bed, or explaining to my family why "research for my book" involves watching every enemies-to-lovers movie ever made.

I believe romance in fantasy shouldn't just be a subplot – it should be the whole dang meal, with extra seasoning and a side of witty banter. My characters might be dealing with ancient curses and magical artifacts, but they're also trying to figure out why their heart does that flippy thing when their sworn enemy smirks at them.

To my readers: thank you for joining me in this world where magic meets romance, where dragons might judge your life choices (but in a supportive way), and where falling in love with your rival is just another Tuesday. I promise to keep bringing you stories that'll make you laugh, swoon, and maybe wish you had a dragon wingman of your own.

Want to keep up with my latest book news, random thoughts about why vampires would actually make terrible roommates, or pictures of my cat judging my writing? You can find me on social media or join my newsletter – where I share exclusive content and behind-the-scenes peeks at upcoming projects. (Fair warning: there will be dragon puns. So. Many. Dragon puns.)

Remember, life's too short for boring books – let's make it magical, romantic, and just a little bit wicked together. 💜
