Hi there! I'm Maura Burd, and I write dark paranormal romance that definitely won't give you sweet dreams. (But hey, who needs sleep when you have books, right?)

I've always been drawn to the shadows, fascinated by the thin line between love and obsession. Growing up in a small town where everyone knew everyone else's business, I escaped into books – the darker and more twisted, the better. My mom probably should've been concerned about my reading choices, but she was just happy I wasn't getting into actual trouble. Little did she know I was plotting deliciously dark stories in my head!

Writing "Deity of Darkness - Risen" was like opening Pandora's box of my deepest fantasies and darkest fears. Drake and Danielle's story had been haunting me for years before I finally put it on paper. Their tale of obsessive love, supernatural power, and devastating choices isn't your typical boy-meets-girl romance. (Unless your idea of courtship involves immortal beings and potentially fatal attractions... in which case, welcome to the club!)

I write the kind of romance that makes you question your own moral compass. You know that guilty feeling when you find yourself rooting for the "villain"? Yeah, I live for that. My characters aren't nice people – they're complex, often cruel, and absolutely unapologetic about what they want. Drake isn't your sweet, reformed bad boy. He's possessive, dangerous, and willing to burn the world down for Danielle. And she? Well, she's got enough darkness of her own to match his.

When I'm not writing about immortal beings and their complicated love lives, I'm probably curled up with my own stack of dark romance novels, drinking way too much coffee, and wondering why all my best plot ideas come at 3 AM. My cats (yes, plural – I'm that kind of author) have learned to ignore my random outbursts when characters decide to do something completely unexpected.

I believe romance doesn't have to be sweet to be powerful. Sometimes the most intense love stories come from the darkest places. My books aren't for everyone, and that's okay. If you like your romance with a heavy dose of psychological tension, morally grey characters, and supernatural elements that'll make you sleep with the lights on, you're in the right place.

"Deity of Darkness - Risen" is just the beginning. Drake and Danielle's world has so many more secrets to reveal, and I can't wait to share them with you. Fair warning though: once you step into their darkness, you might not want to find your way back to the light.
