Hey there! I'm Maureen Child, and I write steamy contemporary romance with a focus on strong-willed characters who definitely don't make things easy for each other (or for me, while I'm writing them!).

I've been spinning tales since I was old enough to hold a pencil, but my journey to becoming a published author wasn't exactly a straight line. Growing up in a big Irish family meant there was always drama, laughter, and about seventeen different conversations happening at once - perfect training for juggling multiple storylines, if you ask me! Those early years taught me that the best stories come from real human connections, even when they're messy. Especially when they're messy.

After years of writing in secret (seriously, I used to hide my manuscripts under the mattress like they were contraband), I finally gathered the courage to submit my work. Now, several books later, I'm still pinching myself that I get to do this for a living. My stories tend to feature strong-headed characters who think they know exactly what they want... until life (and love) throws them a curveball that changes everything.

In my latest work, "No More Sweet Surrender," I dive into the world of billionaire philanthropy with Ivan Korovin, a man who clawed his way up from nothing and now has everything - except the one thing money can't buy. (Don't you just love it when the rich and powerful realize they're not actually in control?) The story explores themes of redemption, pride, and the walls we build around ourselves when we're afraid to be vulnerable.

I'm a firm believer that romance should be both escapist and real - yes, that's totally possible! My characters might live in penthouses and drive fancy cars, but they struggle with the same insecurities, fears, and desires we all do. They're just doing it in better shoes. 😉

When I'm not writing, you'll probably find me binge-watching period dramas (for research, obviously), attempting to grow herbs (and failing spectacularly), or trying to convince my cat that my keyboard is not, in fact, the most comfortable spot in the house. I'm also slightly addicted to coffee, but I maintain that's an occupational hazard for writers.

My writing process is... well, let's call it "organized chaos." I start each day with a cup of coffee and good intentions to stick to my outline, but my characters usually have other plans. They tend to hijack the story and take it in directions I never expected - which, honestly, often leads to the best scenes. I've learned to trust their instincts, even when they're being particularly stubborn (looking at you, Ivan).

For readers discovering my work for the first time, expect complex characters who don't always make the right choices, steamy scenes that serve the story (because chemistry is important, but emotional connection is everything), and endings that feel earned rather than given. I write about real love - the kind that requires work, trust, and sometimes a good dose of humor to get there.
