Hey there! I'm Melissa K. Roehrich, and I write dark fantasy romance that probably shouldn't be read in public (unless you're really good at controlling your facial expressions). Fair warning: my characters tend to make terrible life choices, but they do it with style.

Writing has been my escape since I was that weird kid in the back of the classroom scribbling stories about dragons and forbidden magic instead of paying attention in math. (Sorry, Mrs. Peterson—but let's be honest, I was never going to need calculus.) Those early stories were... well, let's just say they're safely buried in a drawer where they'll never see daylight. But they planted the seed for what would become my true passion: creating complex, morally gray characters who definitely shouldn't fall in love with each other but do anyway.

I never actually planned to publish. For years, I kept my stories to myself, working a "normal" job while my characters whispered their increasingly chaotic tales in my ear. But sometimes life has other plans, right? After a particularly rough year (we're talking the kind of year where you either crack open a bottle of wine or start writing about dangerous magic users with questionable morals—I chose both), I finally decided to take the plunge.

That's how "Dawn of Chaos and Fury" was born. It's the first book in what I'm calling The Legacy Series, and honestly? It's like my heart wrapped in pages, if my heart was really into forbidden magic, complex political schemes, and romance that burns hot enough to scorch your fingertips. When I started writing Tessalyn's story, I knew it wasn't going to be your typical fantasy romance. She's had to deal with more betrayal than anyone should, but she's not just a victim—she's a force to be reckoned with. (And yes, she might make some questionable choices along the way, but don't we all?)

My writing style? Think dark fantasy romance meets psychological thriller, with a healthy dose of "what the hell did I just read?" thrown in for good measure. I love exploring the gray areas between right and wrong, good and evil, love and obsession. If you're looking for pure, wholesome romance... um, maybe try a different author? But if you want complex characters who blur moral lines, magic that comes with a price, and love stories that are equal parts beautiful and devastating, pull up a chair. We're going to be good friends.

When I'm not writing (which, let's be honest, is rare these days), you can find me consuming concerning amounts of coffee, adding to my already ridiculous collection of fantasy books, or trying to convince my cat that my keyboard is not, in fact, the most comfortable place to nap. (Spoiler alert: I'm losing that battle.)
