Hey there, dark romance lovers! I'm M.L. Philpitt, and I write the kind of stories that make your mom raise her eyebrows and your book club friends whisper "should we be worried about her?" (The answer is maybe. But in the best possible way.)

I've always been fascinated by the thin line between love and obsession. You know that delicious shiver you get when you realize the person watching from across the room might be your soulmate... or your stalker? That's where I live as a writer. Right there in that dangerous, addictive grey area.

Growing up in Canada (yes, I'm one of those super polite people who writes extremely impolite things), I spent way too much time daydreaming about the darker side of romance. While other kids were reading sweet YA novels, I was scribbling stories about antiheroes and the women who brought them to their knees. My teachers were... concerned, to say the least.

When I finally decided to publish my first book, "Obsessive Messages," I wasn't sure if anyone else would want to dive into my twisted little world. Turns out, there are plenty of readers who crave stories about obsession, possession, and the kind of love that walks the knife-edge between salvation and destruction. (Thank goodness I'm not alone in my darkness!)

My latest book, "Captive Writings," takes everything I love about dark romance and cranks it up several notches. We're talking four interconnected stories about men who are absolutely wrecked by their obsession with one woman – a bully who worships from afar, a stalker who lives in lies, a friend who's anything but friendly, and a guardian who's definitely crossing all the lines. It's messy, it's intense, and it's exactly how I like my romance.

Here's what you should know about my books: - They're not for the faint of heart - The men are unapologetically obsessive - Consent is... complicated - Happy endings aren't guaranteed (but when they happen, they're earned) - Trigger warnings are my love language

When I'm not writing about beautifully broken people finding their twisted happily-ever-afters, I'm probably binge-watching true crime documentaries (research, I swear!), drinking way too much coffee, or plotting my next dark tale. My cats judge me for all of it, but they still cuddle me while I write the scary parts.

I believe the best stories are the ones that make us uncomfortable in the best way possible. You know that feeling when you're reading something you know you probably shouldn't enjoy quite so much? When you want to look away but can't? That's what I aim for with every book.

To my readers: thank you for being just as twisted as I am. Your messages about staying up until 3 AM to finish "just one more chapter" make my day. Your theories about what's really going on with my characters make me smile (sometimes you're right, sometimes you're wrong, and sometimes you give me ideas that are even darker than what I planned).
