Hey there! I'm Nicola Mostyn, and I write sharp, witty fantasy that pokes holes in everything we think we know about love. (Spoiler alert: We know a lot less than we think we do.)

I've always been fascinated by mythology, philosophy, and the weird stories we tell ourselves about romance. Growing up in Manchester, England, I was that kid who'd rather read Greek myths than fairy tales. While other girls dreamed of Prince Charming, I was more interested in why we were all so obsessed with finding him in the first place.

My debut novel "The Love Delusion" came from years of watching friends chase relationships like they were chasing dragons (and sometimes getting just as burned). I started wondering: What if love really IS a myth? What if we've all been collectively fooled by some cosmic practical joke? And most importantly - what would happen if someone tried to prove it?

That's how Frida McKenzie was born - my gloriously cynical protagonist who's determined to cure humanity of its addiction to love. Of course, the universe has other plans for her. (The universe is funny like that. Trust me, I know from experience.)

I spent years working as a copywriter and creative consultant before diving into fiction. During that time, I helped other people tell their stories while secretly scribbling my own at night. Looking back, all those years of writing advertising copy actually helped shape my voice - I learned how to be punchy, precise, and never waste a reader's time.

When I write, I love mixing big ideas with belly laughs. You'll find ancient mythology rubbing shoulders with modern dating apps, philosophical questions tangled up with pop culture references, and characters who are just as confused about life as the rest of us. I believe the best stories make you think AND make you snort-laugh in public. (If you've ever had strangers give you weird looks while reading on the train, we're probably going to get along great.)

My writing style? Imagine Douglas Adams and Neil Gaiman had a book baby, then that baby was raised by Bridget Jones while listening to a lot of feminist podcasts. I write for anyone who's ever looked at the rules of romance and thought "...really? Are we SURE about all this?"

When I'm not writing, you can find me reading everything from ancient philosophy to modern romance novels, watching far too many comedy shows, and trying to convince my cat that my keyboard is not, in fact, the most comfortable spot in the house. (I'm losing that battle, by the way.)

What can you expect from my books? Sharp wit, big questions, and characters who feel like your slightly messier friends. There will be mythology, but not the boring kind - the kind that makes you go "OH! That explains so much about why we're all like this!" There will be romance, but not the kind you expect. And there will definitely be moments that make you laugh out loud, usually right when you're supposed to be doing something important.

I believe stories should entertain us while also making us question everything we think we know. If you've ever felt like an outsider looking in at the whole romance thing, if you love books that blend genres and break rules, or if you just enjoy watching characters figure out life in all its messy glory - pull up a chair. We're going to have fun.
