VICTORIA K. TAYLOR

Dark Romance Author

Hey there! I'm Victoria K. Taylor, and I write fantasy romance that'll probably make your mom raise an eyebrow. (Sorry, Mom.) You know those stories where the line between good and evil gets real blurry, and you find yourself rooting for people you probably shouldn't? Yeah, those are my jam.

I never actually meant to become an author. I spent years working in corporate marketing, drinking way too much coffee and daydreaming about magic systems during mind-numbing meetings. My notebook margins were filled with snippets of dialogue and half-baked plot ideas instead of, you know, actual work notes. (My boss definitely noticed, but she was cool about it.)

The story that would become "A Throne of Frost and Flame" started as my escape from spreadsheet hell. I'd always been obsessed with fantasy worlds where magic has a price, where choices aren't black and white, and where romance burns slow but hot. Think Sarah J. Maas meets Leigh Bardugo, but with more morally grey characters making questionable life choices. And maybe a few more steamy scenes. Okay, definitely more steamy scenes.

When I finally worked up the courage to share my manuscript with my best friend (after making her sign a blood oath of secrecy... kidding, mostly), she wouldn't shut up about it until I agreed to try publishing. Turns out, other people wanted to read about powerful magic users falling in love while trying not to destroy each other too. Who knew?

My writing style? I like to think of it as "fantasy romance for people who think they're too cool for fantasy romance." I write complex magic systems that'll make your head spin, political intrigue that'll keep you guessing, and romantic tension that'll have you throwing your Kindle across the room. (Please don't actually throw your Kindle. They're expensive.)

In "A Throne of Frost and Flame," I explored what happens when duty collides with desire, and when the fate of a kingdom rests on two people who should be enemies but can't stay away from each other. It's the first book in what I'm planning as the Elemental Crown series, where each book peels back another layer of this world I've created. And yes, there will be more forbidden romance, more moral dilemmas, and definitely more magic-induced chaos.

When I'm not writing, you can find me hiking with my rescue dog (a husky mix who thinks he's a wolf), collecting weird mugs for my tea addiction, or trying to convince my houseplants not to die. I live in the Pacific Northwest, where the constant rain provides the perfect atmosphere for writing about dark magic and complicated relationships.

I believe in writing stories that don't just entertain but challenge readers to question what they think they know about right and wrong. My characters aren't heroes or villains – they're people trying to survive in a world that's rarely kind to them. Sometimes they make terrible decisions. Sometimes they fall in love with the wrong person. Sometimes they save the world anyway.

To my readers: expect morally ambiguous characters who'll make you question your own ethics, slow-burn romances that'll test your patience (in the best way), and plot twists that'll keep you up way past your bedtime. There will be spice. There will be angst. There will probably be someone getting stabbed while kissing. (It happens more often than you'd think in my world.)

I love connecting with readers on Instagram and TikTok, where I share behind-the-scenes peeks at my writing process, book recommendations, and probably too many pictures of my dog. Fair warning: I'm terrible at keeping secrets about upcoming books when excited readers ask me questions. My editor has threatened to confiscate my phone multiple times.

If you enjoy stories where the romance is as complex as the magic system, where the stakes are high and the tension is higher, and where happy endings are earned through fire and blood (sometimes literally), then welcome to my world. Let's get lost in some magic together.

And yes, I do read all my reviews – even the ones that yell at me in all caps about that cliffhanger. (I'm not sorry about it, by the way.)
