Let's get the obvious question out of the way - yes, Zander Cane is a pen name. The real me? I spent fifteen years teaching high school English while secretly scribbling vampire stories in the margins of student essays. True story: I once accidentally handed back a paper with "blood-drinking protocol" notes instead of grammar corrections. That poor kid probably still has questions...

My journey into writing started way back when I was devouring Anne Rice novels under my covers with a flashlight. While other kids were dreaming about prom, I was plotting elaborate vampire court politics and forbidden supernatural romances. Fast forward through a "responsible" career teaching Shakespeare to teenagers (which, let's be honest, is just gothic horror in fancy language), I finally decided to embrace my dark side and write the books I always wanted to read.

My debut novel, "Vampire Academy: Blood Moon at Shadow Springs," introduces a world where prophecies aren't just dusty old predictions - they're time bombs waiting to explode. When I started writing it, I wanted to turn every vampire academy trope on its head. Sure, there's still a mysterious school and dangerous politics, but I promise you've never seen them quite like this. (The jury's still out on that one.) I live in a creaky Victorian house that's probably haunted, but the ghosts and I have an understanding - they don't mess with my manuscript pages, and I don't call the exorcist.
